Privacy
Privacy policy.
The short version: I collect only what I need to answer your messages and send the newsletter, and I do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
This page explains what practionable.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It was last updated on October 20, 2026.
Who I am
Practionable is a personal blog by Casey Sisterson about IT leadership and operations. I am based in Manitoba, Canada, and I am responsible for the personal information collected through this site. You can reach me at casey@practionable.com.
What I collect
- Contact form. The name, email address, and message you type into the form. I use them only to reply to you.
- Email signup. Your email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter. The list is managed through MailerLite, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Spam protection. To tell people from bots, the CleanTalk anti-spam service checks form submissions. It receives the IP address, email address, and text of what is submitted, and it may set a cookie in your browser.
- Server logs. Like most websites, the web host keeps standard logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. These are used for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics, through the Site Kit plugin, to see which issues get read. It uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. It does not collect your name or email address from this.
This site does not show ads and does not use advertising cookies. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings, and the site will work the same.
How I use it
- To reply to your messages.
- To send you the newsletter, if you subscribed.
- To keep the site secure and free of spam.
- To understand which issues are read, so I can write better ones.
I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing purposes.
Who else handles it
A few service providers process information on my behalf: the web hosting company, CleanTalk for spam protection, Google for analytics, and MailerLite for the newsletter. They may store and process your information outside Canada. I only use providers that need the information to do their job.
How long I keep it
I keep messages for as long as it takes to answer you and follow up, and then delete them when they are no longer needed. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept by Google for the period set in the analytics account.
Your choices
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it by emailing casey@practionable.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any issue.
Other websites
Practionable links to other sites, such as LinkedIn. They have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this page
If I change how the site handles information, I will update this page and the date at the top.
