About
Practical, actionable advice, written down so you can reuse it.
I’m Casey Sisterson. I lead technology services across a broad operational portfolio for a global organization.
That portfolio includes infrastructure, cloud operations, DevOps, observability, cloud networking, FinOps, service desk, and 24/7 technical operations. The focus is reliable, scalable, consistent technology operations for mission-critical digital platforms that serve customers around the world.
The role is more than functional management. It means shaping operating models, improving service maturity, aligning technical teams across regions, supporting compliance and security expectations, enabling client delivery, and making sure platforms can scale without losing consistency or resilience.
I do my best work where technology, operations, people, and business priorities meet, especially in environments where uptime, clarity, accountability, and execution matter.
WHY PRACTIONABLE
Practionable means practical and actionable. Running operations across regions and time zones teaches you quickly which ideas survive contact with a real team and which do not. This site is where I write down the ones that do, so you can reuse them.
Each issue opens with a two-minute overview you can act on this week, followed by the full story behind it.
WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE
- Running technology operations: service desk, technical operations, DevOps, cloud and FinOps, and infrastructure.
- Leading people through change, across teams, regions, and time zones.
- Operating models, service maturity, and the habits that keep platforms consistent as they scale.
WHO IT IS FOR
IT and operations leaders, managers stepping into larger roles, and anyone responsible for keeping important systems running and the people behind them aligned.
OFF THE CLOCK
When the alerts are quiet, I pick up a camera.
Operations rewards speed, vigilance, and a steady eye on what might go wrong. Photography asks for the opposite. It slows me down, quiets the noise, and teaches me to wait for the moment instead of chasing it. Looking closely at light, patience, and small details turns out to be good practice for the rest of my work too.
It is where I reset, think clearly, and come back with fresh perspective. If you would like to see what I see, visit my photography site →
